Little League Baseball

Majors Baseball

Majors Baseball consists of preseason practices, a regular season of six (6) or more weeks, and postseason playoffs.

In accordance with Little League Baseball® regulations, all League Age 11 and 12 players will be assigned to the Majors Division. Remaining roster positions may be filled by League Age 10 players who are evaluated and selected based on demonstrated ability and readiness.

Team assignments are determined through player evaluations followed by a manager-selected draft, in compliance with Little League guidelines. Any League Age 10 player not selected for a Majors team will be assigned to a team in the Minors Division.

The number of Majors teams will be determined based on total player enrollment and at the discretion of the League’s Board of Directors, in accordance with Little League Baseball® policies.

Registration for the Majors Division will close in March. Late registrations may be accepted if roster space is available, subject to League approval.

Minors Baseball

Minors Baseball consists of preseason practices, a regular season of six (6) or more weeks, and postseason playoffs. This division is conducted using player pitching and a regulation baseball, in accordance with Little League Baseball® rules and local league options.

In accordance with Little League Baseball® regulations, all League Age 9 players will be assigned to the Minors Division. League Age 10 players not selected for a Majors team following evaluations will also be assigned to the Minors Division. League Age 8 players may elect to participate in either the Minors Division or the Coach Pitch Division, subject to League approval.

Team assignments are determined through player evaluations followed by a manager-selected draft, in compliance with Little League guidelines. The number of teams is determined by total player enrollment and at the discretion of the League’s Board of Directors.

Registration for the Minors Division will close in March. Late registrations may be accepted if roster space is available, subject to League approval.

Coach-Pitched Baseball

The Coach-Pitch Division is a non-competitive instructional division for players League Age 6–8. This division is designed to introduce fundamental baseball skills while emphasizing player development, sportsmanship, and enjoyment of the game. All pitching is delivered by a coach to promote consistent play and increased batting opportunities.

  • All League Age 7 players will be placed in the Coach-Pitch Division.

  • League Age 8 players may elect to participate in either the Coach-Pitch Division or the Minors Division.

  • League Age 6 players may elect to participate in either the Coach-Pitch Division or the Tee Ball Division.

There are no player evaluations conducted for placement in this division. Players will be assigned to teams by the League Commissioner in accordance with Little League regulations.

Games are scheduled for Saturday afternoons and will take place from early May through late June. The season includes organized practices and scrimmage games.

Registration for the Coach-Pitch Division will close in March. Late registrations may be accepted subject to roster availability.

Tee Ball Baseball

The Tee Ball Division is a non-competitive instructional division for players League Age 5–6. This division introduces the fundamentals of baseball in a structured and supportive environment, with an emphasis on player development, sportsmanship, and enjoyment of the game.

  • All League Age 5 players will be placed in the Tee Ball Division.

  • League Age 6 players may elect to participate in either the Tee Ball Division or the Coach-Pitch Division.

There are no player evaluations conducted for placement in this division. Players will be assigned to teams by the League Commissioner in accordance with Little League regulations.

Games are scheduled for Saturdays and will take place from early May through late June. The season includes organized practices and scrimmage games.

Registration for the Tee Ball Division will close in March. Late registrations may be accepted subject to roster availability.

USA Softball

 

Majors Softball (Grades 6- 8)

The Majors Softball Division is a competitive program for players in school Grades 6 through 8 (League Age 11–13). This division provides advanced instruction and competitive gameplay while continuing to emphasize sportsmanship, teamwork, and enjoyment of the game. The program is designed to prepare players for future participation in high school softball.

Games are played on weeknights (Tuesday and Thursday) at home in Sandwich and at participating Upper Cape League communities, including Falmouth and Bourne.

This division features player-pitch softball and follows USA Softball rules with Canal League guidelines.

Practices are scheduled at the discretion of the team coach and are typically held on non-game nights (Monday or Wednesday) or on weekends.

Registration for the Majors Softball Division will close prior to evaluations. Late registrations may be accepted subject to roster availability. If teams are full, waitlists may be utilized, and early registration is encouraged.

Eligibility Note:
Players who are League Age 10 with prior Minors Softball experience are eligible to register and participate in Majors Softball evaluations. League Age 10 players who are not selected for a Majors roster will remain eligible for Minors Softball and will be included in the Minors Softball draft, in accordance with league policy.

Minors Softball ( Grades 3 - 5)

The Minors Softball Division is designed for players in school Grades 3* through 5. This division focuses on skill development and game fundamentals while emphasizing sportsmanship, teamwork, and enjoyment of the game.

Games are played on weeknights (Monday and Wednesday) at home in Sandwich and at other Upper Cape League communities, including Falmouth and Bourne.

This division features a combination of coach pitch and player pitch, using modified USA Softball rules and Canal League guidelines to keep the focus on learning and having fun.

Practices are scheduled at the discretion of the team coach and are typically held on non-game nights (Tuesday or Thursday) or on weekends.

Registration for the Minors Softball Division will close prior to evaluations. Late registrations may be accepted subject to roster availability. If teams are full, waitlists may be utilized, and early registration is encouraged.

Second graders who have previously participated in K–2 or Fall Softball are eligible to register and attend the Grades 3–5 evaluations. Second graders who are not selected for a Minors roster will remain eligible for K–2 softball participation.

Grades K-2 Instructional Softball

This league is open to players in school grades K through 2. There are no practices or evaluations in this division.

Each Saturday afternoon from early May through mid-June, players will participate in a 1.5–2 hour session that includes skill-building clinics followed by a short game.

Teams will be assigned by the league commissioner. Registration closes in late April.

*Players and siblings in Pre-K are also welcome to register.

Gateway Babe Ruth Baseball

 

Gateway Babe Ruth is a regional baseball league open to players ages 13–16. The season consists of 10–12 games, played at the Wing School and other locations across Cape Cod, followed by playoffs.

Most games are scheduled on weeknights, with the possibility of one weekend game against Martha’s Vineyard.
